Emery Heights Chess Girls will be a FREE program and our goal is to relieve parents of any financial stress to enroll participants so that they can focus on supporting their child’s development and having a FUN experience. Emery Heights Chess Girls is in the initial stage and we are asking for additional donations and sponsors that can help us have a successful launch and program for the duration of 9 weeks. We have scheduled an open house on Saturday, March 18th from 12:00pm-1:30pm at the center to provide an overview of the program. Furthermore, with a new site also comes an additional need for start-up resources. Chess Girls DC works tirelessly to engage young players and register them for tournaments on both the local and national levels. Approximately two years ago I was introduced to Chess Girls DC (and I have been in communication with the Founder Robin Floyd-Ransom to extend this amazing program to Ward 4, and over the months we have been able to secure a wonderful space at the community center that will serve as the new site.
